Perfect Facial Cleanser for Summer

I have recently been on the search for a new facial cleanser. I wanted something that smelled and felt good on my skin. I found both in Ole Henriksen’s African Red Tea Creamy Foaming Cleanser.

I love the texture of this cleanser..it is so light and fresh! I also love the discreet smell. It didn’t have that “medicine” smell you often find in facial cleansers. It also contains great benefits for your skin like antioxidant-rich African red tea and Ester-C AND has anti-aging botanical extracts.

And...while we're on the topic of the most wonderful Ole Henriksen, I must tell you how much I love their lip balm Fresh Lips.  You should know that I am very picky about lip balms. I own about 236326 of them because I am always searching for the perfect one. Some are too waxy..some taste weird..some don't provide enough coverage..and so on and so on. BUT..Fresh Lips is JUST right!

This lip balm does a great job of moisturizing your lips without being sticky..PLUS..it stays on and it tastes good, like mint! I can put this on before I go to bed and my lips are silky smooth the next morning.
Have you tried any Ole Henriksen products? Let me know what you think!!

This week I am thankful for:
1. My furry friends..all four of them: Tinkerbell, Tucker, Scout, Dexter. You bring so much happiness into my life on a daily basis. You immediately make any day better!!

2. Ellie Goulding-I just discovered your music last week and I've had your Pandora station playing non-stop. My favorite song is Starry Eyed!

3. Speedway Frozen Cappuccino. When I can't get to a Starbucks, you are a great alternative. Totally yummy!!

4. The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio- a friend recommended this 2005 movie and I am so glad she did. A great period piece about a woman who makes a living on contest wins. There is so much more to this endearing movie and it is now one of my favorites!

I hope your weekend gives you many things to be thankful for! See you Monday! :)

Believe...

Believe...

purple smiley face
icons.mysitemyway.com

Every Thursday I will bring you a little inspiration, a thought for Thursday here on Kellie's Camera. I love the above quote even though I admit I sometimes have trouble following the inspiration. To me, belief is a cornerstone. You must believe something can be accomplished long before you set out to achieve whatever goal it may be. First, you must believe in yourself and that isn't always easy for me. Before I set out on any endeavor, I tell myself I have the tools to accomplish this goal and I AM going to do it! Positive affirmation is key. If you don't believe you can do something, chances are, you will fail. Lately, in my life, I have been telling myself I WILL do this or this WILL happen and I will see that it does. I have found the goals I put the most positive energy behind are the ones that become reality. How important is belief to you?

The Hairspray I Can’t Live Without

Over the years, I have tried so many different brands of hairspray looking for the right fit but there was always a problem. Some hairsprays were too heavy, others didn’t have enough hold and so on and so on.
That all changed when my stylist, Barbara, introduced me to BennieFactor's b Confident HairSpray.

b confident hairspray-benniefactor

There are so many positives to this hairspray. It smells wonderful..people are always telling me how great my hair smells. It has the best hold of any hairspray I’ve tried. It provides a nice hold without weighing my hair down and making my hair feel sticky or dirty. It works well for ALL hair types... and another really cool thing about the entire BennieFactor line, is that is made in Prospect, Kentucky which is right outside Louisville.
Do you have a favorite hairspray? One that has great hold even in the sweltering heat? Let me know..I love to hear from you!! ;)

Dollar Dollar Bills Ya'll

This is My Moment....

So, it was time for my moment. My time to shine on the red carpet at the one and only Chinese Theatre in the best city in the world. I have to agree with Tupac..."I love LA!!"

I had been living the life of a celebrity. I was treated to a driver, room service. a Beverly Hills shopping spree, seriously...could life get any better? Oh yes it could!! I was all dressed up in my Haute Hippie formal with the crazy chic feather skirt topped off with my beautiful Elizabeth and James heels (shout out to MK and Ashley, love your line, girls!)

My hair was FAB-ulous and my makeup was star-worthy. I actually looked the part of a red carpet reporter....but inside, I was slightly freaking out. My mind was racing with questions I had been preparing to ask ALL the stars of the movie. What's the best death scene in Scream history? Why do you think the Scream franchise struck movie gold? Who in the cast has the best scream? As I approached the red carpet, I kept telling myself to breathe...I mean, how tragic would it be to faint in front of 14363 celebrities AND the paparazzi?!?!? This is not how I want my first TMZ moment to go down!!

Actually being on the red carpet was surreal. I'm sure you've seen it yourself on tv so many times like me, but to actually stand there was such a WOW moment!!

I took lots and lots of pictures, I wanted to make sure this moment in my life was well documented! Time seemed to fly before I heard photographers start screaming the stars names. Courtney..over here! Neve, you look beautiful! I was getting more nervous because I knew I would be face to face with them very soon.

And then, it happened, The stars started lining up to talk to press members and ME and there I was asking all the hard hitting questions (ok, not really) and before I knew it, I had talked to half the cast! Wanna see for yourself? Go here!

My time with the stars went by fast and I had to rush into the theatre to see the movie. Now, obviously this movie watching experience would be unlike any other I've had before but to let you know just how cool it was...Director Wes Craven actually welcomed the packed house to the premiere of his movie. I mean, have you ever seen a movie with it's director? Nevermind the fact the entire cast was watching it with me too!

And the movie?? It was beyond amazing wonderful fantastic! The opening scene had the crowd alternating between gasping in surprise and laughing (see that's the magic of the Scream franchise)! I was 110 percent impressed. After the show, is the after party, of course! We headed over to the Redbury for a party WITH the cast. Is this really my life??? My favorite part (besides bumping elbows with Hayden Panettiere) was the delicious Crumbs cupcakes custom made for the movie.

I wish that I could have had this moment for life, I really really do..but sadly, it was coming to an end. I can't thank PopSugarTV enough for this experience. I returned home to Kentucky a few months ago, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about the amazing opportunity they provided for me. Nicki Minaj said it best...It was in that moment that I truly felt so alive!

Refreshing Shampoo for Summer

I’ve been looking for a new shampoo for the Summer. I had heard great things about Molton Brown shampoo and was very excited to try Lili-Pili Hairwash. I have normal textured hair and I am always searching for a shampoo with a clean smell and one that won’t weigh my hair down. I am very very happy with Lili Pili!!
The shampoo has a refreshing, light smell that is especially inviting during these hot summer days. It is an every day shampoo with an added shine booster..which is always a nice bonus! I actually used the shampoo this morning and my hair feels and smells wonderful!!
You can buy the hairwash at the Molton Brown site for $28.
What is your favorite shampoo? Is there a special one you enjoy using just during the Summer?

...Cause in this Moment I Just Feel So Alive....

I have often wondered what's it's like to live the celebrity life..but I don't have to wonder about that anymore. Thanks to PopSugarTV I was living la vida loca in the city of angels and it was everything I thought it would be...and more!!
The fine folks from PopSugar were driving me all over L.A. as I had to decipher clues in order to safely make it to the world premiere of Scre4m.

I found clues at the Houdini mansion and a silent theatre and got pretty scared along the way!!

It was almost time for the big premiere but what would I wear? How would I fix my hair? How would I do my makeup?? You might have guessed PopSugar already had this part figured out. I was taken to Neiman Marcus..and not just any Neiman's..the Neiman's on Rodeo Drive, yeah that's right! I was gifted a beautiful dress and heels and I truly felt like a princess! Oh but my movie-star makeover didn't end there, off we went to Serge Normant Salon for a hair cut, color, and style...plus a makeover from two sensational ladies!!

So I bet you can't wait to see my dress..and the STARS of Scream as I interview them on the red carpet...BUT..you're going to have to wait till tomorrow. In the meantime, see for yourself all the events leading up to the big event here.

I wish that I could have this moment for life....part one

Have you ever had an experience that was so unbelievable you knew you would re-play the moment over and over in your mind... days, months, and even years after it was over?? I was lucky enough to have that kind of experience earlier this year!

One thing you should know about me is that I am a huge horror movie fan..I mean HUGE!!! Yes, I like scary movies!! I've been watching them since I was a little girl. I waited with anticipation for each installment of Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street like most kids wait on the latest Disney flick.

When I first saw the movie Scream, it became my favorite scary movie of all time and nothing has topped it to this day!! I loved how Director Wes Craven intertwined suspense, horror, comedy, and spot-on references to pop culture thoughout the movie. It broke new ground in the horror genre and set a precedent that other scary movies would try to replicate for years to come.

I saw all three Scream movies and was so upset when the franchise ended. But just a couple of years ago, there was good news..a 4th installment was in the works, years after the franchise had supposedly ended. You can imagine my excitement when one of my favorite sites PopSugarTV announced they were looking for a Red Carpet Correspondent to interview the cast of Scre4m during the World Premiere in Hollywood. I had to take a quiz based on my knowledge of the previous movies and.... I am happy to say I got a perfect score! ;)

About a week later, I got an email from PopSugar telling me I was a finalist and I would need to make a video to prove I was a HUGE fan of Scream! You can watch my video here.

I was over the moon about being a finalist..but now, it was up to PopSugar fans to vote for their favorite video.....AND......they voted for ME!!!

I was just a little excited..just a little (please note extreme sarcasm!!) So PopSugar whisked me and a guest (I took my mom) to LA and once we stepped off the plane, the star treatment began.

We were greeted by a chauffeur, taken to the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel, and served champagne!! But this was just the beginning of the moment I wish I could have for life...come back tomorrow to hear about my amazing red carpet experience!!

Kristin Chenoweth: My New Inspiration...

Ok, I will go ahead and admit I am a little late to the Kristin Chenoweth party. The very first time I saw Kristin perform actually wasn't on stage in the mega-hit Wicked or on Pushing Daisies. Nope, I never even knew a TV show, named for her, one time graced the airwaves of NBC. I actually first discovered Kristin on an episode of Glee as the lovable yet somewhat misguided character, April Rhodes.

Even though I "found" her much later than all of you Kristin supa-fans, it took me .1 second to realize what a talent this woman was.....

and then....I read her book.

Kristin's book, A Little Bit Wicked, takes us on a journey of Kristin's life from a young girl in Oklahoma to a Broadway and TV phenom. I have to thank one of my fave bloggers, Tatiana from Love, Life, Lace for inspiring me to buy this book. After reading the first page, I simply could not put the book down. I loved learning how Kristin came from a modest upbringing to stardom all because of her hard work, faith, and dedication.
I often think you must be "connected" to make it in the world of Broadway and TV, but none of Kristin's success was handed to her. Even if you don't know who Kristin is, I recommend this book as an inspiration to chase your dreams no matter what your background.

Now, I am sad I've missed my chance to see Kristin perform in Wicked on Broadway but I look forward to her future endeavors and plan to follow her on her magnificent journey!

Take a Shower, Smell like a Bakery

Who doesn’t like the smell of fresh baked cookies? That’s exactly what I was thinking when my friends at Sephora gave me two yummy goodies to try..but not to eat!! The next best thing to eating fresh baked cookies, in my opinion, is smelling like them. I was super excited to try Carol's Daughter Almond Cookie Sea Salt Body Scrub and Almond Cookie Body Souffle.
I decided to give the body scrub a try first and planned on using the souffle after my shower. One of the first things I noticed about this scrub, was that it had ACTUAL almonds in the jar. I know..I was amazed too! Before I even used the product, the smell won me over and made me want to make cookies right away! This scrub is so fragrant that just a little bit of it made me smell yummy and actually scented my entire bathroom.
After using the scrub, I was more than excited to follow up with the Shea Souffle in the same scent. I love the light, fluffy texture! It is the perfect compliment to the body scrub.
I am now a big fan of Carol's Daughter products, and I think you will be too if you give them a try. You can purchase the Almond Cookie Sea Salt Body Scrub for $28 at Sephora. You can also buy the Almond Cookie Souffle at Sephora for $30. Trust me, you won’t be dissapointed.

Want that Smokey Eye Look? The Answer: Mally Beauty

I don’t know how many times I have wondered how celebrities achieve that perfect “smokey eye” look. I have tried it many times, unsuccessfully. I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally get it right…and it was all because of Mally Beauty.

I first learned about Mally Beauty when I saw celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal on QVC. I had been wanting to try her products for quite some time. I was estatic to try the City Chick Smokey Eye Kit. I have the kit in the color Soho Silver. I have tried dozens of eyeshadows but this set really sets the bar high. I was immediately impressed by the packaging. It is in a beautiful green mirrored case. It came in it’s own super cute makeup pouch AND it comes with eyeliner!

Another awesome thing about Mally’s eyeshadow kits is that on the bottom of the compact, it tells you which shadows go on certain parts of your eyes. Mally makes it EASY for you!
I noticed a HUGE difference in the way my eye makeup looked when I started wearing these colors but I became an even better “eye-makeup-artist” after an amazing experience. I was actually lucky enough to speak with Mally herself over the phone this week and she gave me some great tips to achieve the “smokey eye look” by using the City Chick Smokey Eye Kit in Soho Silver. Now, I am going to share them with you!
Mally says to always use the eyeshadow base and put that on first. It keeps your eye makeup lasting all day. Mally’s eyeshadows are for high performance wear..and it’s true, they really last for hours and hours.
Next, she says take the silver shade and put it all over the lid to the lash line just past the crease. Then use the matte gray color in the crease.
Next, take the black eyeshadow as close to the lash as possible and use a little bit on the bottom.
Mally says to make your eyes “pop”, line them with darker liner on the bottom and lighter liner on the top…this tip REALLY REALLY works. It made a big difference in the way my eyes looked.
Finally, Mally says to always use lots and lots of mascara..and voila! you have created a smokey eye masterpiece!
You can buy the City Chick Smokey Eye Kit on the Mally Beauty site for $40.
I hope you try it for yourself and if you do, please send me pictures of the results. I will post them to my blog.

Moisturizer Gives “Hope” to Skin

I have always thought that finding a good face moisturizer is a very tough challenge. I have tried dozens of moisturizers that just didn’t work for me. Many are too heavy, too fragrant, or just don’t feel good on my skin. I have always been a fan of the brand Philosophy. After hearing so many wonderful things about their moisturizer, Hope in a Jar, I was very interested to see how it would work for me. I was not let down.
Hope in a Jar is light, not too fragrant, and it feels great on my skin. I believe that is the perfect combo in a moisturizer. Not only does it feel good on, it is good for your skin. It helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin discoloration, rough texture, and dehydration. It really does leave skin more hydrated and radiant.
You can buy Hope in a Jar on the Philosophy site in a variety of sizes. The one ounce size costs $28.00. If you are hoping for a better moisturizer, I don’t think you will be dissapointed with this one!
What moisturizer do you use daily? I would love to hear from you!

Smell like Sugar with Baby Soft Skin!

This weekend I had an exhilarating experience in the shower and it was all because of a body polish..seriously! The brand this excellent product comes from is Fresh and  if you haven’t tried any of their products before, you are really missing out!  The first wonderful thing I noticed about Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish when I opened the jar is the heavenly smell. Words cannot describe how yummy it smells! The smell might have been enough for me to love this product but I had no idea what I was getting ready to experience in the shower.
I have found even the most gentle body polishes/scrubs leave your skin feeling a little “stripped”..but not this one. My skin has NEVER felt so soft from using any other product and believe me, I have tried 124387 lotions, scrubs, shower gels, etc. in my lifetime.  What makes the polish so special? It has real brown sugar crystals that prevent moisture loss while buffing away dry skin cells. It is made with four precious oils that deeply moisturize dry skin. It has gingseng root and peppermint to invigorate and revitalize skin cells….plus even more!
The HUGE 14.3 ounce jar of Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish is $65 and I promise it is so worth every penny!!
I think it’s time for me to take another shower and enjoy more Brown Sugar Body Polish…and that's my view on this awesome product!!
